Before you press Record.
Straight answers about app audio recording, Pre-record, formats, privacy and the 7-day trial.
Recording & setup
Does it record one app or the whole computer?
Only the apps you pick. Record one app or select several with Ctrl+click. There is also an inverse mode to record everything except one app. That inverse mode does include system sounds.
Do I need Stereo Mix or a virtual audio cable?
No. Windows provides the selected applications’ audio directly. No virtual audio device, extra driver or changes to your Windows sound settings are needed. You keep hearing everything through your usual speakers or headphones.
Can I record a single browser tab?
No. The whole browser is recorded, including its tabs and windows. Pause or mute unwanted tabs before recording, or play the audio in a separate browser and select that browser.
Can protected audio be recorded?
DRM-protected audio cannot be recorded and may come out silent. Use the built-in 5-second test take before a long session to check your source. Record only audio you have the right to record.
Which versions of Windows are supported?
Windows 10 and Windows 11 on x64 or Arm64 PCs. See the Microsoft Store listing for the exact minimum Windows version. A microphone is optional and is needed only if you want to include your voice.
Pre-record & keyboard shortcuts
What is Pre-record?
Pre-record keeps a rolling buffer of the last 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes or 3 minutes of your selected apps in memory. Press Record to include that buffered audio at the start. Press Ctrl+Alt+M to save the buffer and the next 3 seconds as a standalone clip. It must already be enabled; it cannot recover earlier audio.
How do I start, pause, stop or save a clip with shortcuts?
Ctrl+Alt+R starts recording and then pauses or resumes it. Ctrl+Alt+S stops. Ctrl+Alt+M saves the Pre-record buffer plus the next 3 seconds as a clip. You can change all three shortcuts in Settings.
Does recording continue when I close the app window?
Yes. Closing the window keeps the app running in the notification area. Recording, Pre-record and global shortcuts continue. Use Exit from the tray menu to close the app completely.
Your microphone & audio files
Can I record my own voice too?
Yes. Turn on My microphone. Your voice can be saved to its own file and is included in the mixed file when you create one. You can set separate app and microphone volumes in the mix. Use headphones to avoid recording your speakers through the microphone.
Which audio formats can I save?
MP3 at 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps, or WAV at 16-bit or 24-bit. Choose separate files for each app, one mixed file, or both. Recordings go to the folder you choose.
Do separate audio files stay in sync?
Yes. Separate files from the same recording are aligned sample for sample. Keep the default silence setting to preserve the timeline. Skipping silence shortens the recording and changes its relationship to clock time.
What happens if Windows crashes while recording?
The app writes audio incrementally. On the next launch, it detects unfinished recordings and offers to restore what was captured. Usually only the last few seconds are missing; the exact amount depends on the interruption.
Is this a screen recorder or audio editor?
It is an audio recorder only. It does not capture video, record your screen, trim clips, edit waveforms, remove noise or transcribe speech.
Privacy, purchase & support
Does the app upload my recordings?
No. The recorder saves audio only to your chosen folder on your PC. The app has no telemetry, usage analytics or account registration. A problem report reaches the developer only when you choose to send it. Trial and purchase licensing are handled by the Microsoft Store.
How much does it cost?
The base price is US$9.99 for a one-time purchase, with no subscription. Local prices and applicable taxes are shown in the Microsoft Store. The 7-day trial includes every feature and is a trial of the paid app, not a separate free edition.
Which interface languages are included?
English, Ukrainian, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, European Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The app follows your Windows language by default, and you can change it in Settings.
Should I get permission to record a call?
Record only what you have the right to record and obtain the consent required where you are. Check the relevant meeting, workplace or course rules before recording other people.
How can I report a problem?
Use Report a problem or suggest inside the app, or open the support page linked in the footer. In-app reports are sent only when you press Send and can include your message, an optional contact address and a technical log. The technical log contains no audio.
Your apps. Your audio. Your files.
Try every feature for 7 days. Then buy once, keep recording.
